Movie Review: The Devil Wears Prada

I didn't read the book. And I am glad, I think that fact lended to my utter enjoyment of this film. The book is always better so in this case – being a free screening and all – we skipped reading the book. And I really liked the movie. I am a fan of Anne Hathaway and this movie may launch her into a new arena. She is stunning on camera and still has a quirky flare to her. It is just a fun movie. Sure it may be predictable, it may be "feel-good" in spots but it is entertaining. The music is fun, the fashion is great and the characters are ones we all know. Meryl Streep is fantastic! And while I feel that Adrian Grenier (boyfriend) and Simon Baker ("other guy") had lack-luster performaces (I would like to recast them by the way with Josh Hartnett as the boyfriend and Patrick Dempsey as the other guy), Emily Blunt (assistant) was hilarious as was Stanely Tucci as always.

Girls, Moms, Sisters – you will really enjoy this film. And to anyone, still searching for themselves, this movie will will be one you will like. It has humor and life rolled into the fancy package of fashion. I would love to see it with my sister. I hope it does well when it opens at the end of the month. And again, read Shane's post. He has a great one on this movie from a male perspective.

  2. Question…loved the move, loved the book! thought book was better but loved the movie anyway! Does anyone know the name of song that was playing when Anne Hathaway was exposing herself in her new undergarments to her boyfriend (Andrian Grenier) in that scene? Love that song but can’t find it anywhere. What is the name? “Open your eyes” or “In your eyes” Any one know?

  3. what is the name of the song the movie opened to? i hate when they dont put the good songs in the soundtrack…
